A very old variety of apple originating in Europe. It is high quality, firm, crisp, juicy and tart. Used especially in cooking and baking. It is also very good for fresh eating.

Apples require pollinators, so another variety of apple should be nearby for production. Granvenstein apples are triploid, and cannot pollinate other apple trees. They do best with at least two other apple varieties for pollination, such as Cortland, Empire, Freedom, Sweet Sixteen, Transparent, Gala or Dolgo Crabapple.

This tree is Zone 2, so it will do well in any part of the region, including the colder areas.

Trees need full sun and should be planted minimum 10ft apart from other fruit trees.
