Originating in Russia in the 1800s, Transparents are cold hardy and popular. They are considered the "ultimate saucing apple", and many at New Leaf agree. Although the superior saucing ability makes it a very poor storage apple, this naturally sweet and slightly tart apple is well worth it.
Apples require pollinators, so another variety of apple should be nearby for production. Some pollinators include Cox Orange Pippin, Empire, Wolf River, or Chestnut Crabapple.
This tree is Zone 3, so it will do well in most of the region including the colder areas such as Rathdrum and Athol.
Trees need full sun and should be planted minimum 10ft apart from other fruit trees.
