Kieffer pear trees are hardy and heavy bearing. The fruit is golden yellow with a crimson blush and a crisp, coarse texture with sweet, slightly tangy flavor. It is ideal for canning and baking.
Pears require pollinators, so another variety of pear should be nearby for
production. As a hybrid, it can be pollinated by both European and Asian pears. Some recommended pollinators include Bartlett, Moonglow, or Shinseiki.
This tree is
Zone 4, so it will do well in most of the region including the colder areas
such as Rathdrum and Athol.
Trees need
full sun and should be planted minimum 10ft apart from other fruit trees.
